35th Parallel MediterrAsian Jazz Ensemble
Live at The Hopkins Center 2/27/07

[instructions for download below]

Back in February 2007, the 35th Parallel MediterrAsian Jazz Ensemble had the honor of performing at the Hopkins Center for the Performing Arts at Dartmouth College. Every semester, master percussionist Hafiz Shabazz presents a performance by his World Music Percussion Ensemble, and we were brought in as the guest musicians for the early '07 concert.

This month's download is a selection from that show, our rendition of the piece 'The Happy Sheik' (we didn't name it, folks) composed by Lebanese oud player Rabih Abou-Khalil. The tune is one of our favorites, and is a staple in our MJE performances. This version features some great solos by Brian, Gabe, and Mac. Enjoy!
