[instructions for download below]

This well-known piece from the Middle East was written by Armenian violinist Kemani Sebuh, a musician who taught and influenced many 20th century masters of Turkish and Armenian music.

One can hear renditions of this song in many different countries with as many interpretations, reflecting the musical aesthetics of each culture. The name of the piece refers to the maqam, or scale, that is used in the composition.

We recorded this song on our CD "Crossing Painted Islands" and have performed it since then. This duo version was from a recent performance in Woodstock VT.

Enjoy!
